AJ Chambers is supporting a leading advisory, tax, and audit firm in St Albans. Our client is seeking a Private Client Tax Senior to join their established Private Tax team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to take ownership of a client portfolio under the guidance of an Assistant Manager. You will manage a varied personal tax portfolio, covering routine compliance and ad hoc advisory work.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage all day-to-day requirements for a private client portfolio, including clients with diverse income sources (earned and investment income).
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients.
- Handle tax matters for partnerships and high-net-worth individuals.
- Liaise with colleagues outside the Private Client team on client matters (e.g., General Practice, audit, or accounting teams).
- Address a range of capital gains tax issues.
- Assist with or manage the delivery of technical advisory work.
- Support one-off advisory and compliance assignments.
- Attend client meetings.
- Propose fees, raise client bills, and regularly review work in progress (WIP).
Requirements
- ATT qualified; CTA qualification or study in progress is preferred.
- Strong experience in personal tax with hands-on portfolio management.
- Familiarity with self-assessment tax returns and computations.
- Knowledge of EIS, VCT, SEIS, and UK residence/domicile rules.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Commercial awareness regarding billing, profitability, and client retention.
- Proactive, collaborative, and delivery-focused mindset.
Working Arrangements
- Hybrid role: 3 days per week in the St Albans office, occasional travel to central London.
