About the Company
The projects will be between £5m - £50m in the Northern home counties covering leisure , commercial and residential projects.
We are a well-established and growing Main Contractor delivering high-quality projects across a range of sectors including commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments. Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, we are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual looking to develop their career within a supportive and professional environment. You will assist in managing the financial and contractual aspects of projects from procurement through to final account, gaining hands-on experience across all stages of construction.
Key Responsibilities
* Assisting with cost planning, budgeting, and value engineering
* Supporting the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers
* Preparing and issuing tender documentation
* Valuing subcontractor applications and processing payments
* Assisting with variations, change control, and cost reporting
* Contributing to monthly valuations and financial reports
* Supporting the preparation of final accounts
* Ensuring compliance with contractual and commercial procedures
* Working closely with the Project Managers and Senior Quantity Surveyors
Requirements
* Degree (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
* 1–3 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying role (placement experience considered)
* Experience working with a Main Contractor essential
* Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
* Good knowledge of construction processes and contracts
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel essential)
* Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
* Ambitious, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
