Shipping Department Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and results-driven Shipping Department Manager to lead a high-volume D2C fulfillment operation. This role oversees 5 Section Leaders and approximately 50+ pick/pack/support team members across Picking, Packing, Sortation, Replenishment, and Cleaning functions.

The ideal candidate is metrics-driven, operationally disciplined, and experienced in managing large warehouse teams while maintaining strict service levels and accuracy standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure same-day and next-day D2C orders ship within SLA.
• Monitor hourly/daily performance and maintain ≥99.5% on-time shipping.
• Own end-of-day shipping closure and carrier compliance.
• Proactively resolve workflow bottlenecks.

• Directly manage 5 Section Leaders.
• Set clear performance expectations and accountability standards.
• Conduct performance reviews and corrective actions.
• Build cross-learning programs and develop future leaders.

• Create daily and weekly labor plans based on forecast.
• Balance picking and packing staffing dynamically.
• Monitor productivity (Orders Per Labor Hour).
• Manage overtime and structured Saturday staffing plans.

• Maintain ≥99.5% packing accuracy.
• Reduce re-shipments and error rates.
• Implement quality control checkpoints.

• Deliver daily operational reporting and weekly executive summaries.
• Identify root causes for missed targets and implement corrective actions.
• Drive workflow and process improvements within WMS.

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Warehouse or fulfillment leadership experience preferred.
• 3+ years managing supervisors or team leads preferred.
• Experience in high-volume D2C or e-commerce environments.
• Strong analytical, labor planning, and WMS experience.
