  • Troubleshoot mechanical and HVAC system issues such as leaks, airflow problems, pressure imbalances, temperature control failures, vibration, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Assemble piping and mechanical systems using welding, brazing, soldering, threading, grooving, and mechanical joining techniques.
  • Install, test, and commission mechanical service systems including HVAC, chilled water, steam, compressed air, and fire protection systems.
  • Conduct pressure testing, flushing, balancing support, and system verification to ensure performance and compliance with specifications.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, piping isometrics, P&IDs, control diagrams, and building plans.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, installations, and shutdowns with facilities teams, contractors, and other trades.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and documentation using CMMS or other tracking systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable mechanical codes, building standards, safety regulations, and internal procedures.
Basic Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–4 years of hands‑on experience working with mechanical and HVAC systems in commercial, industrial, or facilities environments.
  • Completion of a technical training program, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in HVAC, mechanical systems, or industrial maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC equipment, piping systems, pumps, compressors, and mechanical components.
  • Proficiency using mechanical diagnostic tools such as pressure gauges, temperature probes, airflow meters, and vibration monitoring tools.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and mechanical shop equipment.
  • Understanding of heating, cooling, ventilation, hydraulics, pneumatics, and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot moderately complex mechanical and HVAC system issues.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree, trade school certification, or vocational training in HVAC, Mechanical Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience maintaining mechanical and HVAC systems in industrial or mission‑critical facilities.
  • HVAC certifications such as EPA 608 or equivalent mechanical trade certifications.
  • Experience with advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and system optimization.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC controls interfaces.
  • Experience with CMMS platforms, maintenance planning, and work coordination.
  • Knowledge of applicable mechanical codes, energy efficiency standards, and building regulations.
  • Strong safety awareness with knowledge of OSHA or equivalent regulatory standards.
