Position Overview
The GEODS program is seeking a highly skilled Senior System Administrator to support mission-critical projects that directly impact national security and intelligence operations.
The Geospatial Enterprise Open Data Store (GEODS) contract delivers integration, design, development, and sustainment of data services supporting Federal Government operations.
The Senior System Administrator plays a key role in overseeing system testing, supporting deployment activities, collaborating with development teams, and contributing to backlog refinement and roadmap planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Access Management & Security
- Fulfill AWS S3 bucket access requests, ensuring proper authorization and compliance with security policies.
- Create and manage IAM roles and policies following least-privilege principles.
- Create, rotate, and manage IAM user access keys in accordance with the 90-day key rotation policy.
- Maintain strict access control to ensure secure cloud infrastructure operations.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting
- Monitor system and application performance using tools such as:
- AWS Cloud Watch
- Tableau
- Analyze logs and troubleshoot issues on AWS EC2 Linux instances.
- Diagnose and resolve network, DNS, and storage issues.
- Recommend cost optimization strategies and scalability improvements.
- Operational Support & Collaboration
- Respond to and resolve support tickets in accordance with SLAs.
- Support deployment activities alongside Dev Ops and development teams.
- Configure SNS topics and S3 bucket notifications based on operational needs.
- Collaborate with security, engineering, and operations teams to support AWS infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation.

Education and Experience
- One of the following combinations:
- Bachelor’s degree +5 years of relevant experience
- Associate’s degree +7 years of relevant experience orminimum 8 years of relevant professional experience

- Experience managing IAM roles, policies, and access keys
- Experience troubleshooting cloud infrastructure and applications
- Knowledge of networking, DNS, and storage systems
- Experience with incident management and ticketing systems
