Position: Principal Cloud, Data & ML Engineer [$375k/yr] with Security Clearance
Candidates must already possess an active Top Secret/SCI with the Springfield VA customer to be considered for this position.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Cloud, Data & ML Engineer to lead the development of web applications and APIs with a strong focus on geospatial data processing. In this role, you will take a cloud-first approach using AWS CDK to build robust data pipelines, integration workflows, and complex microservices architectures. You will champion event-driven patterns and container orchestration while incorporating advanced analytics, ML/AI, and strict Dev Sec Ops  practices.

Required Skills:

• AWS CDK & Infrastructure as Code: 5+ years building complex, reusable constructs and implementing multi-environment deployments.
• Data Engineering & Big Data: 4+ years building ETL/ELT pipelines, data lakes, and real-time streaming architectures using AWS ecosystems (Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Redshift, Athena) and Apache Spark.
• Cloud Architecture & Microservices: 4+ years designing event-driven systems and microservices, including API design, service mesh, and advanced use of AWS cloud-native services (Serverless, ECS/EKS, SQS/SNS, Event Bridge).
• Advanced Python: 5+ years of async programming, API development (FastAPI/Flask/Django), and data processing (Pandas/Num Py).
• Full-Stack JS/TS: 5+ years utilizing Node.js backends and modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular) with standard package managers/build tools.
• Core Engineering Foundation: 7+ years of cloud-first software engineering with a proven track record of solving complex technical challenges. Desired:
• MLOps & AI Platforms:
Experience developing MLOps pipelines and deploying models using platforms like AWS Sage Maker or Databricks.
• Dev Sec Ops  & Security Automation:
Expertise in secure coding, continuous compliance, secrets management, and integrating security scanners (Sonar Qube, Snyk, Checkmarx).
• Advanced Database Management:
Deep knowledge of data modeling, performance tuning, and optimization across relational and No

• Resilient Architecture & Fin Ops:
Experience designing for high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), business continuity, and cloud cost management.
• Modern Observability:
Proficiency in implementing comprehensive monitoring stacks (Cloud Watch, Data Dog, New Relic, or Prometheus/Grafana).
• Polyglot Engineering:
Additional programming proficiency in languages such as Go, Java, or C#.
• Open Source Community: A proven history of open-source contributions or active participation in technical communities.
