The GIS Database Engineer (DBE) will work as part of a team supporting data analysis, management, processing, and automation for a Security & Installations/Infrastructure office within the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). The DBE position will be responsible for translating business and IT requirements into robust data architectures-designing, developing, and implementing relational and object-oriented databases. The DBE will also deliver usable data assets by creating and updating ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros to build complex, scalable systems from inception through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC).
Additionally, this position is part of Guidehouse's broader AI & Data horizontal team, offering reach back and connectivity to firm-wide network of data practitioners. Additional, specific duties include:
* Provide technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow, and analysis.
* Develop relational and/or Object-Oriented databases, database parser software, and database loading software.
* Project long-range requirements for database administration and design. Responsible for developing a database structure that fits into the overall architecture of the system under development and has to make trades among data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security, and domain controls.
* The DBE works primarily at the front end of the lifecycle-requirements through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC).
* Develops requirements from a project's inception to its conclusion for a particular business and IT subject matter area (i.e., simple to complex systems).
* Assist with recommendations for and analysis and evaluation of systems improvements, optimization, development, and/or maintenance efforts.
* Translate a set of requirements and data into a usable document by creating or recreating ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros; updates existing queries, creates new ones to manipulate data into a master file; and builds complex systems using queries, tables, Open Database Connectivity, and database storage and retrieval using Cloud methodologies. What You Will Need :
* ACTIVE Top Secret SCI clearance and the ability to obtain a CI poly within 30 days of starting
* Bachelor's Degree and TEN (10) or more years relevant experience OR NINE (9) or more years relevant experience with a Master's Degree
* Demonstrated experience working with GIS data in various formats such as vector or raster
* Experience with programming languages and database creation
* Extensive experience designing, developing, and administering GIS databases, including spatial data management, geodatabase design, and enterprise system integration.
* Strong ArcGIS Enterprise expertise (Pro, Server, Online, key extensions) including spatial analysis, geoprocessing, and web map application development.
* Experience automating GIS workflows (Workflow Manager or similar tools).
* Strong RDBMS experience (Oracle, SQL Server, Postgre
SQL) with proven SQL query optimization for spatial data.
* Python scripting proficiency for geospatial processing and automation, plus JavaScript experience for web development.
* Extensive experience developing geospatial data models, including schema design, validation, and maintenance.
* Extensive data integration experience (ETL, API) focused on integrating GIS with enterprise systems.
* Familiarity with Agile principles.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, effectively conveying technical concepts to diverse audiences.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for complex geospatial issues.
* Experience integrating BIM data with GIS platforms, including solid BIM understanding.
* Willingness to explore and experiment with new geospatial technologies. What Would Be Nice To Have :
* Experience working with CAD files
* Experience working within the Intelligence Community and familiarity with IC security and systems & installation protocols
