Overview

The Lower School Resource Teacher will support students who require additional assistance in developing study skills, executive functioning skills, and bridging academic gaps. The goal is to help these students achieve academic success, self-advocacy skills, and achieve their full potential.

Job Description
  • Collaborate with lower school teachers to support small groups of students who exhibit academic weaknesses.
  • Assist teachers in developing classroom techniques to help students maintain and improve their academic performance.
  • Observe, evaluate, and report regularly to the Principal and Director of Teaching and Learning about students who may need further evaluations and services.
  • Maintain an organized file system for students requiring intervention, including current accommodations for students.
  • Review and provide recommendations to the Admissions Manager and Principal for incoming students as needed.
  • Create opportunities to meet with students, teachers, and parents to share strategies for developing effective study habits both in and out of the classroom.
  • Serve as a liaison between the school and external resources.
  • Attend meetings related to special needs for students.
  • Based on prescribed educational accommodations by a professional psychologist, create and maintain reports for students with diagnosed learning needs.
  • Research, evaluate, and report on current special education state and national policies.
  • Provide teachers with resources on incorporating differentiated learning into the classroom.
  • Work with teachers on implementing accommodations for assessments and instructional strategies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree in Education
    • Experience working with high school students with learning differences.
    • Strong knowledge of assessment and instructional strategies.
    • Ability to analyze data and use assessment results to inform instruction.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
    • Commitment to ongoing professional development and collaboration with colleagues.
    • The teacher will be regenerated by the Holy Spirit through personal faith in Jesus Christ by the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Savior.
    • The teacher will have a working knowledge of the Bible and will complete studies in the Christian Philosophy of Education.
