- Promote Safety: Take an active role in prioritizing safety in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards throughout the plant for yourself and others at all times.
- Become Familiar with Tools and Equipment: Utilize a variety of hand and power tools to perform duties effectively.
- Learn to Diagnose Problems: Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, detect and replace defective components, test, and make regular adjustments.
- Learn to Weld: Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines. Plan, lay out, install, and repair a wide variety of complex equipment.
- Perform Maintenance: Perform a variety of maintenance and carpentry functions, and regular preventative maintenance on machines and plant facilities.
- Additional Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is required. Technical school is preferred.
- Functional Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of welding material, welding properties, and various types of metals; ability to interpret blueprints; ability to wire feed welding machines to hard face and fabricate and repair liners.
- Welding
Skills:
Welding experience; able to perform brazing, welding, arc‑welding, and cutting tasks. - Flexibility: Willing to work overtime and extended hours; able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and tolerate loud noises.
- Mechanical
Skills:
Knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.
