Position OverviewReports To:
Lead Electrician
Department: SPW Maintenance
Shift
Hours:
Employee works four 12‑hour shifts, with three 10‑minute breaks, and a 30‑minute unpaid lunch. Day shift: 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Night shift: 5:00 PM – 5:00 AM.
Wage: $38.10 – $41.98 (DOE)
Position
Purpose:
Maintain high levels of production by minimizing downtime through predictive and preventive maintenance of all equipment. Bring forth issues and resolve them through formal action planning. Work closely with all members of the Maintenance, Production, and Management teams.
- Must have current State of Oregon Journeyman Electrician card.
- Must be familiar with the mill electrical system (MCCs, disconnects, machines, and conveying systems).
- Blue print reading and installation by code. Make prints of installations completed.
- Install conduit level, straight, according to code or better depending on application.
- Diagnose and repair 120 VAC to 480 VAC control power.
- Diagnose and repair low voltage AC and DC.
- Troubleshoot power supplies of all types—low voltage, multi voltage, and constant voltage.
- Troubleshoot 3‑phase power, MCCs, motors, relay logic, and auxiliary contacts.
- Good understanding of machine center control/electrical systems. Simplified Allen Bradley PLC program schools. Know how to use timers, counters, basic ladder logic, and force functions.
- Work on special projects as assigned. Work in confined spaces as required.
- Perform other duties and functions as assigned by supervisor for production and cleaning purposes.
- Additional essential functions:
Advanced understanding of machine center control/electrical systems, plant optimizer systems, plant production and downtime report system, HMI, Panel View and Message View systems, and Plant PLC network. - Layout and complete moderately complex projects.
- Monitor and report electrical maintenance performance to Electrical Department Supervisor.
- Coordinate with controls technician to schedule electrical personnel on projects or mill modifications, reducing contractor costs and improving internal knowledge.
- Identify production bottlenecks and lost recovery opportunities. Develop action plans to provide solutions.
Inside 50%:
Average temperature 60°F; extremes 10°F to 105°F. Outside 50%.
Noise or vibration:
Machine noise and operating machines, including forklifts.

Atmospheric conditions:
Limited dust, water mist, dry wood, welding, cutting, grinding gases (acetylene), and limited ventilation.

- Lifting:
Maximum 50 lbs without assistance; lifting over 50 lbs with two or more people or devices. - Carrying:
Maximum 10–50 lbs without assistance; carrying over 50 lbs with two or more people or devices. - Pushing/Pulling:
Maximum 75 lbs over 4 feet; level or incline surface.
Excellent hand‑eye coordination; continuous use of vision and hearing; strong reading and speech. Ability to prioritize, organize, and make necessary decisions in a self‑directed manner.
SafetyAdhere strictly to trained maintenance procedures, lockout/tagout, proper body mechanics, use of PPE, communication with co‑workers (e.g., forklift drivers), and required reading/writing during safety training.
