Environmental Service Attendant -Custodian

Job Description

Peace Health is seeking an Environmental Service Attendant I‑Custodian for a Part‑time, 0.60 FTE Night position. Salary range is $19.29‑$29.59. Hiring rate depends on education, training, experience, applicable collective bargaining, seniority, etc.

Position is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing rooms, floors, fixtures, and furnishings in assigned area following policies and procedures. Also performs other housekeeping duties such as replenishing supplies.

• Ensure that assigned areas are cleaned and disinfected according to departmental procedures: dusting, mopping, vacuuming, spot cleaning carpets, washing walls, ceilings, furniture and fixtures, emptying trash, restocking supplies, washing and making beds.
• May set up furniture in conference rooms.
• Maintain housekeeping cart, restock paper receptacles, replace sharps containers, and order supplies essential to the job. Clean and store equipment properly.
• Respond to emergency cleaning needs or housekeeping requirements in a timely manner.
• In clinical areas, communicate with clinical personnel to determine priority of cleaning needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma Preferred, or equivalent.

• Minimum of 1 year preference: formal housekeeping experience.
• Preferred: experience in hospital or healthcare setting.

  Driver’s License.
• Required:
  
  Fingerprinting – State of Alaska (Alaska Requirement).

• Basic verbal and written communication skills (Required).
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision (Required).
• Strong customer service skills (Required).
• Basic computer skills (Required).

• Project cleaning such as defrosting and cleaning refrigerators, surgical cart and furniture cleaning.
• Operating Room Turnover – will coordinate and document room turnovers to ensure they are cleaned and disinfected between surgical cases.
• Stocking and maintaining turnover supplies.

Lifting and moving tasks include continuous movement within area, simple grasping, frequent pushing/pulling of up to 36 lbs (initial force) and 26 lbs (sustained), frequent reaching/bending/stooping, lifting 10–25 lbs frequently, 26–50 lbs seldom, occasional carrying up to 20 lbs, occasional squatting/kneeling.

• Exposure to biohazard, body fluids, and airborne particles.
• Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
• Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.

• Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
• Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
