- Role:
Full‑time Surgical Technologist in the CVOR - Schedule:
Four 10‑hour day shifts each week - Unit: 2 CVOR Suites, with 22 suites in the Main OR
- A current wage range of $41.67 – $58.31 (hourly rate dependent upon related work experience and terms of the AFT Technical collective bargaining agreement)

Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend is a beautiful 350‑bed acute care hospital with a level II trauma center, situated along the McKenzie River in Springfield, Oregon. This position is responsible for assisting the Cardiac Surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient.
- Arrange and inventory sterile set‑up for operation and pass items as needed to the surgical team.
- Understand and apply the principles of asepsis. Establish and maintain a sterile field and ensure the team maintains a sterile environment.
- Assist in preparation and moving of patients.
- Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assist with clean‑up and room turnover.
- Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.
- Participate in all safety initiatives. Adhere to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program and current Surgical Technologist Certification from a nationally accredited certifying organization. May also consider completion of a U.S. Military Surgical Technologist Training Program and, along with completion of 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
- Requires 2 years of Cardiac Surgery Surgical Tech experience.
- Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support Certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age‑specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.
- Well organized, detail oriented and self‑motivated.
- Ability to coordinate activities and work collaboratively with others.
- Ability to execute detailed procedures with accuracy and precision.
- Basic computer/keyboarding skills including MS Office applications.
- Understanding of operating room protocols.
- Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
- Fine motor skills to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
- Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
- Frequent reaching, bending, squatting, kneeling, grasping.
- Lift/Carry:
Frequently up to 15 lbs.; occasionally up to 20 lbs. - Push/Pull:
Frequently up to 20 lbs.; occasionally up to 30 lbs.
- Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
- Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.
