Referral Coordinator
Pay: $24.99 – $33.73 per hour (salary range). Full Time 1.00 FTE Day position.
Job SummaryAssure that services approved by private payors have been performed and request additional visits as needed through the episode of care. May also be responsible for management of referrals; working closely with team members to ensure optimum utilization and cost containment. Provides clerical support and assistance to staff.
Responsibilities- Oversee data entry and completion of referral forms/notifications.
- Obtain insurance pre‑authorization for patients and reauthorization of additional treatment; ensure insurance carrier documentation requirements are met and referral documentation is filed in patient’s medical record.
- Efficiently manage correspondence with patients, physicians, specialists, insurance companies; document pertinent information on referral form or in medical record.
- Ensure practitioners follow standardized guidelines as recommended by evidence‑based medicine.
- Communicate with billing staff and third‑party payors to assure coverage of patient care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Accredited school preferred:
Business or two years college; preferred:
Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nurse. - Minimum 3 years experience working in insurance in a medical related field or related experience.
- Preferred:
National Certified Medical Assistant;
Licensed Practical Nurse – Oregon;
Registered Nurse. - Demonstrated experience in insurance requirements for referrals and prior authorizations for various therapies (PT, RT, OT, ST), surgeries, procedures, diagnostic testing, infusions, GYN procedures, testing (required).
- Proficient with MS Office applications (required).
- Proficient with Horizon Home Care (required).
- Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or negligible force frequently.
- Predominantly sedentary work in an office environment.
- Requires close visual acuity.
