We are seeking a Purchasing Leader responsible for leading a seven-person team and driving sourcing, logistics, planning, negotiations, and procurement to support company operations. This role ensures optimal quality, cost, delivery, and supplier performance while managing procurement strategies and vendor relationships.
Team Leadership & Cross‑Functional Collaboration- Manage, coach, and develop a team of 4 to 8 purchasing professionals.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance teams.
- Act as a key operational partner in industrial and make‑or‑buy decisions.
- Lead day‑to‑day purchasing operations to support production and business needs.
- Develop and execute supplier sourcing strategies aligned with site and US purchasing objectives.
- Identify, qualify, and develop a reliable and competitive supplier base.
- Build and implement long‑term purchasing agreements (LTAs) to secure cost, quality, capacity, and delivery performance.
Responsible for direct and indirect purchases related to the manufacturing of transport containers, including:
- Raw materials (steel, aluminum, and other metals)
- Laser cutting services
- Fabrication, welding, and metal forming services
- Machining services
- Commercial off‑the‑shelf components and standard parts
- Recurring production and one‑time project purchases
- Lead supplier negotiations for recurring production and project‑based needs.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and delivery performance.
- Monitor supplier performance (cost, quality, lead time, capacity).
- Proactively manage supply chain risks and implement mitigation plans.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in industrial purchasing
, preferably in a manufacturing environment. - 5+ years of proven experience managing purchasing teams.
- Strong background in purchasing:
- Metals and raw materials
- Industrial subcontracting (fabrication, machining, laser cutting)
- Standard and catalog components
- Strong operational mindset with the ability to execute in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
- Solid understanding of metal‑mechanical manufacturing processes
. - Ability to manage increasing purchasing volumes and supplier complexity.
- Hands‑on leadership style, autonomy, and strong problem‑solving skills.
- Comfortable working in a matrix and multicultural organization.
- Ability to travel occasionally within the US.
