Position SummaryReceives and processes incoming supplies and equipment, performs cleaning and sterilizing duties, prepares packs of supplies, linens, instruments, and case carts in central processing. Serves the operating rooms, nursing units, and ancillary areas of the Medical Center. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Decontaminates instruments, supplies and equipment according to established policies and procedures.
Cleans, assembles, wraps, sterilizes and stores supplies and instrument trays accurately and in a timely manner. Performs biological and chemical monitoring in accordance with quality assurance standards. Sterilizes instruments, equipment and supplies as required; handles and stores instruments, equipment and supplies appropriately. Maintains the cleanliness of work areas as required. Participates in educational programs and service meetings. This position is part of a Collective Bargaining Unit and is represented by a collective bargaining agreement.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified Central Processing tech within 1 year of hire
- Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Decontaminates instruments, supplies and equipment according to established policies and procedures.
- Sorts and prepares linen for processing trays and packs.
- Cleans, assembles, wraps, sterilizes and stores supplies and instrument trays accurately and in a timely manner.
- Distributes supplies and equipment to units in a timely fashion. Knows equipment use and assembles case carts accurately per requisition.
- Maintains an adequate supply of packs and supplies to meet area needs including inventory control, proper labeling, inspection of linen and labeling of packages.
- Performs biological and chemical monitoring in accordance with quality assurance standards.
- Sterilizes instruments, equipment and supplies as required; handles and stores instruments, equipment and supplies appropriately.
- Maintains the cleanliness of work areas as required.
- Participates in educational programs and in service meetings. Attends meetings.
