As the Activity Director at Forest Glen
, you will oversee the planning, development, and execution of a comprehensive recreational and therapeutic activities program. You will lead a team of activity assistants and work collaboratively with nursing and other departments to ensure that residents’ interests, physical abilities, and cognitive needs are met through a variety of social, physical, and creative activities.

• Plan, develop, and implement individualized and group activity programs that promote residents’ physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
• Oversee the daily operation of the activities department, ensuring a variety of programs are available to meet the diverse interests and needs of residents.
• Supervise, mentor, and train activity assistants to support effective program delivery.
• Create and manage activity schedules, ensuring activities are inclusive, engaging, and well-attended.
• Coordinate special events, outings, holiday celebrations, and social gatherings for residents and families.
• Conduct assessments to determine individual resident activity preferences and needs, developing personalized activity plans.
• Ensure all activities are in line with the facility’s mission, goals, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Maintain detailed records of residents’ participation, preferences, and progress in the activity program.
• Collaborate with other departments (e.g., nursing, social services, dietary) to integrate therapeutic activities into residents’ overall care plans.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for residents to engage in activities and outings.
• Budget and order supplies needed for programs, ensuring efficient use of resources.

• Bachelor's degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is preferred.
• Previous experience as an Activity Director or in a leadership role within a healthcare setting, particularly in long-term care, is preferred.
• Certification in Activity Director or Recreational Therapy (such as CTRS, ADC, or CDP) is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to create engaging and meaningful activities tailored to the needs and abilities of residents.
• Excellent communication and team-building skills, with the ability to connect with residents, families, and staff.
• Compassionate, resident-focused approach to care.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support resident engagement and activities.
