Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: The successful applicant will provide instruction for 11-12th grade students in the Dental Assisting program, teaching dental technology, oral diagnosis and treatment, and dental radiography; preparing students for industry credentials including Dental Assistant Radiographer's Certificate, Registered Dental Assistant, and Ohio Certified Dental Assistant; and working with local employers for job placements for students.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • The applicant must have either:
    • High school diploma and 5 years of related work experience;

      - OR
    • 2-year HS career‑technical program in dental and 4 years of related work experience;
    • Associate degree in dental and 3 years of related work experience;
    • Bachelor/Master's degree in dental and 2 years of related work experience.
  • The district will assist in the ODE teaching licensure process. The applicant must have or be able to obtain a current, valid Ohio teaching license appropriate for the assignment in Dental Assisting or have or be willing to obtain a Career‑Tech Workforce Development (CTWD) License based on work experience in the Dental Assisting field.
  • Complies with drug‑free workplace rules and board policies.
  • Meets all mandated health and background screening requirements including FBI/BCI checks.
  • Preferred ability to start in April 2026 to work with the current instructor this school year.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Creates learning opportunities using diverse instruction techniques with an emphasis on hands‑on experiences in the dental lab.
  • Develops and maintains a safe, positive learning environment that engages students in the career field.
  • Individualizes instruction and works with students with a variety of needs and abilities.
  • Works with local professionals on the program's advisory committee to ensure the program remains aligned with current industry standards and workforce needs.
  • Prepares students to earn industry‑recognized credentials, facilitates the credentialing process, and ensures alignment with current workforce needs to support employability.
  • Works closely with students to prepare them for work placements, secures placement opportunities in local dental offices, and supports the employment process.
  • Evaluates student performance and consults with parents/guardians as needed. Implements effective student management procedures. Maintains standards and upholds student code of conduct.
  • Ensures the program meets or exceeds state quality standards for technical skill attainment, work‑based learning, and post‑program outcomes.
  • Reports completed promptly and accurately, and maintains appropriate records.
  • Upholds FERPA and HIPAA requirements to protect student and patient confidentiality.
  • Promotes a favorable image of Springfield‑Clark CTC school district.
  • Assumes any other responsibilities as assigned by the Board, Superintendent, or Administration.

SALARY & CROnTRACT: Placement on the Springfield‑Clark CTC Certified Salary Schedule and Benefits Package, based upon education and experience.
