Forensic Nurse

Summary

• A Forensic Nurse provides timely and accurate consultation of forensic care. In collaboration with the medical care team, the Forensic RN will provide accurate documentation of patient narrative, provide injury identification/documentation, and will obtain biological samples for evidence collection as needed. The Forensic Nurse will collaborate with forensic coordinators, physicians, law enforcement, county prosecutors, and victim advocates, among other agencies when appropriate to insure proper discharge.
  
  A Forensic Nurse may serve as a medical witness during judicial proceedings. A Forensic Nurse functions as a consultant promoting excellence in the practice of nursing and forensic science. The Forensic Nurse is responsible for maintaining high standards in clinical practice/continuum of care, professional practice development, teamwork, customer relations, ethics and research/performance improvement for all types of forensic patients.

• Education Required:
  Graduate of an approved nursing program Preferred:
  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
• Experience Preferred: 2 years of SANE experience.

Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness and good judgment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Demonstrate effective leadership abilities Exhibits valuable time management skills Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills. Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment
• Licensure/Certification/Registration Required: MO RN License
