OverviewUtilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
PositionDetails Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree required. Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role and 1–2 years of experience is preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013. Nurses hired after this date without a BSN must complete degree within 5 years of their hire date.
- No experience necessary. On‑the‑job training is provided.
- Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate’s Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
- Personal responsibility for obtaining and maintaining a current RN license within the hiring state or compact licensure. Must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
- Certification(s) may be required based on position/unit: ACLS, NRP, ENPC, TNCC, CPHON, OCN, BLS, PALS, PEARS, S.T.A.B.L.E., C‑EFM, or other unit‑specific certifications as required.
None required, but experience in pediatric emergency care is a plus.
Physical Requirements- Ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
- Prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
