Overview

The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and Wound Care nurse provides direct patient care and coordinates hyperbaric oxygen therapy and wound care. Nursing care is focused on specialized assessment, diagnosis, planning, treatment and evaluations of patients receiving hyperbaric oxygen therapy and wound care. The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and Wound Care nurse is skilled with care and management of patients with chronic wounds resistant to healing and may have specialized training in the field of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and wound care.

• Provide direct patient care in the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and Wound Care setting.
• Coordinate hyperbaric oxygen therapy and wound care treatments for patients.
• Perform specialized assessment, diagnosis, planning, treatment and evaluations for patients receiving HBOT and wound care.
• Manage care of patients with chronic wounds resistant to healing; may have specialized training in hyperbaric oxygen therapy and wound care.

• Education:
  
  Required — Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing or NLN approved program;
  Preferred — Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Experience:
  
  Required — 6 months of prior experience as a Registered Nurse, or prior experience as a Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse in an outpatient or ambulatory clinic setting.
• Skills:
  
  Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to work independently and in teams; time management and prioritization; proficient computer skills; wound care certification preferred.
• Lusire/Certification/Registration:
  Required — Current Registered Nurse License active in the state of Missouri;
  Obtain Hyperbaric Registered Nurse Certification within 2 years of employment.
