The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring that the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while embodying the core values of the company. This role focuses on promoting patient and employee safety, supporting a positive work environment, and ensuring exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to create individualized care plans.
- Identify teaching needs related to patient diagnoses and collaborate with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, focusing on education for patients, families, and significant others.
- Initiate discharge planning from the day of admission and begin patient education for discharge preparedness.
- Communicate changes in patient status effectively to maintain continuity of care.
- Supervise and provide direction to ancillary nursing personnel, utilizing problem-solving techniques.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.
- Contribute positively to the unit's functioning by providing calm direction to staff, patients, and families.
- Maintain communication regarding service needs, supplies, and clinical training.
- Assume charge responsibility as requested after the orientation period.
- Engage in professional development and continuing education opportunities.
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to first shift (specific to certain locations).
- Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required.
