This position is not a remote position. The role will be located in our Virtual Care Command Center at Cox South Hospital.
Expand your healthcare knowledge and experience while maintaining your skills at the bedside. Consider joining our team in a hybrid position in a cross‑training role that includes both bedside nursing shifts and opportunities to grow new skills as a virtual nurse.
Our Virtual Nursing Command Center is equipped with advanced technology that provides patients with an extra level of monitoring from admission to discharge. Virtual nurses are centrally located in the Command Center at Cox South. They use this technology to support bedside RNs by:
- Monitoring patient vital signs in real time and responding to changes.
- Assisting with admissions and discharges.
- Co‑collaborating with virtual physicians, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and the Early Intervention Team.
- Helping reduce bedside nurses’ workload while ensuring high‑quality patient care.
Additional information about the position for qualified candidates:
- $1.00 Certification pay
- $1.00 BSN pay
- Career Ladder Bonus eligible up to $5,000
- Assist with the admission and discharge process.
- Develop and maintain care plans.
- Educate patients and families.
- Conduct medication and discharge teaching.
- Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams.
- Mentor new nurses.
- Implement evidence‑based practice.
- Provide nursing tasks not requiring in‑person presence while performing real‑time quality and patient safety surveillance.
- Required:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program. - Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- Required:
Minimum of two years previous nursing experience on an inpatient nursing unit. - Preferred:
Charge nurse or preceptor experience and specialty nursing certification.
- Accountable and responsible for own safe clinical practice.
- Basic computer skills and knowledge.

- Required:
RN license active in the state of Missouri.
