The psychiatric unit nurse cares for patients with behavioral health illnesses in an acute care setting. The psychiatric unit nurse is responsible to conduct intake interviews, assess and evaluate the patient, establish a plan of care, maintain a safe therapeutic environment, work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team, and may conduct therapeutic groups.

• Education:
  
  Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program. Preferred:
  Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
• Experience:
  
  Preferred:
  Previous nursing experience.
• Skills:
  
  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, effective leadership abilities, valuable time management skills, strong critical thinking/problem‑solving skills, flexibility and ability to work in a multi‑tasking environment.
• Licensure/Certification/Registration: RN license active in Missouri; BLS required within 90 days.
