Job Description
  • Provide basic patient care under direction of nursing staff.
  • Perform duties such as taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, changing linens, and other duties as assigned.
  • Obtain information on patient condition as requested by the nursing staff, and report any changes in patient condition.

Cox Health is proud to be a Level I Stroke and Trauma Center, and our 800 Neuro-Ortho unit plays a vital role in delivering exceptional care to these patients. As a 26-bed unit, we specialize in treating a wide range of complex conditions, including stroke, trauma, and neurosurgical cases. Our patient population is diverse, ranging in age from 18 to 102, offering a broad spectrum of clinical experiences.

The 800 unit is a fast‑paced, dynamic environment where each day presents new challenges and rewarding opportunities. Nurse Assistant Apprenticeship

Job Summary

Functions within a classroom and clinical learning environment to obtain training as unlicensed assistive personnel. While in the clinical learning environment, will provide basic patient care under direction and supervision of clinical educator and nursing staff. During clinical rotation, may perform duties such as taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, changing linens and other duties within their scope of practice as directed.

While in clinical setting, obtains information on patient condition as requested by the nursing staff or clinical educator and reports any changes in patient condition. At the end of the training, a competency assessment will be administered to validate learning.

Job Requirements
  • Education: Preferred:
    High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience:
    • Prior patient care or healthcare-related experience
  • Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Exhibits valuable time management skills
    • Strong analytical/problem solving skills
    • Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment
    • Available for work on a consistent and timely basis
    • Conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks
  • Licensure/Certification: BLS must be obtained within 90 days
