A Fabricator is responsible for basic cutting, shaping, welding and grinding of metal to form tanks, vessels and their components according to blueprints and specifications, while adhering to quality standards. This position may have previous experience operating basic hand and power tools. Additionally, knowledge of painting, sandblasting, shipping, receiving and assembling of products may be required.
Essential Job Functions- Operates mobile crane equipment with the capacity of less than 20,000 lbs. and directs the rigging and hoisting of equipment.
- Sets up and operates machines to make production parts to standard shop blueprints.
- Performs welding, grinding and cutting operations in all positions as determined by others. Care required in blocking, clamping and holding parts to avoid distortion and conform with tolerances and specifications.
- Grinding where grade and type of abrasives are being determined by others.
- Quarter heads and shells for fit-up and determine degrees and location of fittings and nozzles.
- Paints where finish or compliance to specifications are critical.
- Operates spray foam insulating, painting, and sandblast equipment.
- Operates machines that require minimal skills and experience, such as presses, shears, saws, rolls, etc.
- Performs various warehouse activities involving receiving, special order and inventory.
- Collaborate with warehouse, production, and logistics teams to ensure efficient, safe loading and unloading operations.
- Ensure safe, timely loading and unloading processes.
- Guide and train coworkers to promote continuous and efficient performance.
- Maintains a clean work environment.
- Performs other duties requiring similar skills and abilities as assigned.
- Attend and contribute to open book management.
- Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position.
- The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Ability to read a tape measure.
- Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, sketches or other specifications.
- Ability to promote a safe work environment.
- Ability to take initiative and be a self starter to meet production demands and schedules.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and ability.
- Knowledge of product, mechanics, shop mathematics, shop processes and procedures.
- Basic knowledge of abrasives, conditions of metal and finish.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Experience with trucks under three tons (i.e. tractors and fork-trucks), mobile crane equipment with the capacity of less than 20,000 lbs. and overhead cranes.
- Satisfactorily complete the following one of the Company training programs or pass equivalent tests. (These requirements will be waived by the Company if an employee can demonstrate they can successfully perform the duties.)
- Basic blueprint reading.
- Basic welding.
- Basic grinding.
- Additional technical skills.
Base Compensation Range: $19.00 - $20.80 per hour
Shift Differential: $2.00 per hour
Variable Compensation Range: Incentive bonus eligibility up to 10% of gross annual salary based on company performance (as of 2025).
