GENERAL PURPOSETo provide operational leadership and vision for the Technology department, ensuring all technology equipment and core infrastructure services support the District’s Strategic Plan and instructional goals. As a senior leader, this role directs the logistical and operational integrity of the Technology Infrastructure and User Support services, ensuring a secure, robust, and scalable technology environment. The Director is responsible for cultivating a high-performing team through active coaching and accountability, while serving as a servant leader that supports the teaching and learning environment.
ESSENTIALJOB FUNCTIONS
- Cultivate a culture of excellence by actively coaching, mentoring, and evaluating technology staff. Promote professional development and build leadership capacity within the team to ensure high retention and skill growth.
- Manage departmental personnel matters with a high degree of emotional intelligence, resolving interpersonal and performance issues at the source while identifying the specific thresholds that require formal escalation.
- Establish and enforce rigorous service standards (SLAs) and performance metrics for the technology department, fostering a results-oriented environment where staff are held accountable for project outcomes and support quality.
- Oversee the logistical operations of the technology department, including complex project management, hardware/software procurement, asset lifecycle planning, and vendor contract negotiations.
- Support the district’s cybersecurity posture, data privacy protocols, and disaster recovery planning to mitigate risk and ensure business continuity.
- Develop and manage the technology budget by utilizing all available funding, including E-Rate, to ensure fiscal responsibility in all technology expenditures.
- Author and maintain rigorous technical and procedural documentation, system architectures, and security protocols to ensure departmental continuity, regulatory compliance, and a clear roadmap for the technical team.
- Partner with curriculum and academic leaders to evaluate and implement educational technologies that enhance learning, ensuring technology decisions are aligned with District instructional goals.
- Lead effective departmental and cross-functional meetings by establishing clear agendas, fostering collaborative problem-solving, and ensuring actionable follow-up.
- Actively contribute to district meetings by listening to instructional goals and providing clear, helpful feedback on how technology can best support them.
- Produce high-quality written executive summaries, presentations, and professional communications designed for non-technical audiences that articulate the value and impact of technology initiatives.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Five (5) years of job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility, preferred.
Special Requirements
- Preferred – Certified Educational Technology Leader (CETL) and/or Master’s Degree.
- Required – Must pass a Criminal Background Clearance, the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.
- Knowledge of basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios; review and interpret highly technical information, write technical materials, and/or speak persuasively to implement desired actions; and analyze situations to define issues, draw conclusions and create action plans.
- Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include pertinent laws, codes, policies, and/or regulations; personnel processes; program planning and development; school budgeting, policies and audit procedures; concepts of grammar and punctuation; principles of governmental and fund accounting and budgeting.
