Microbiology Technician – Mérieux Nutri Sciences - North America
Location:
2835 N Oak Grove Ave, Springfield, MO USA.
- Read plates and tubes to determine organism count.
- Record findings on worksheet for verification.
- Write identification onto plates so client and sample number can be tracked.
- Pipette sample solution into tubes or plates according to analysis process.
- Pour agar into plates or tubes to begin growth process.
- Prepare sample for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
- Collect plates and place them in incubator for specified time, temperature.
- Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing.
- Sterilize materials needed for analysis; autoclave plates before discarding.
- Perform food poisoning, pH and other analysis tests on sample when requested by client.
- Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis.
- Support corporate quality and continuous improvement process.
- Perform housekeeping duties; keep work areas and equipment clean.
- Participate in cleaning schedule and maintain retained samples as required.
- Adhere to all safety policies.
- Support laboratory management in implementation, maintenance, and improvement of management system.
- Perform other related tasks as needed.
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Basic knowledge of microbiology to accurately perform testing procedures and obtain accurate results. Analytical skills essential for completing analysis procedures and determining microorganism concentration. General knowledge of LIMS required to process client data. Physical dexterity required for manipulating samples.
Work EnvironmentLaboratory setting with proper lighting and temperature control. Occasional exposure to laboratory fumes, chemicals, and materials. Safety equipment: gloves, laboratory coat, eye glasses. Continuous lifting up to 50 pounds. Extended standing time. Ability to detect slight variation in color shades.
ScheduleSunday – Thursday OR Tuesday – Saturday 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM.
CompensationHourly rate $17.00 USD.
