Portfolio Accounting Manager - Property Management

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly capable and detail-oriented Portfolio Accounting Manager to oversee the financial operations of a growing commercial real estate property management platform consisting of approximately 25 properties across retail, flex, industrial, and redevelopment assets.

This role is responsible for managing the full financial lifecycle of the portfolio - including property-level accounting, CAM budgeting and reconciliations, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.

The ideal candidate is both operationally strong and adaptable - comfortable handling day-to-day accounting functions while supporting ownership with budgeting, reporting, and financial oversight across the portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting:

  • Maintain general ledger across multiple property entities.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements:
    • Property-level P&L.
    • Balance Sheets.
    • Cash flow summaries.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.
  • Track reserves and operating accounts.
  • Maintain organized financial reporting.

Property Accounting:

  • Prepare and manage CAM budgets.
  • Complete CAM reconciliations.
  • Monitor tenant recoveries.
  • Maintain rent rolls.
  • Track lease-related financial obligations.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and collections.

Operational Finance:

  • Manage accounts payable and bill pay.
  • Process payroll.
  • Track commissions and management fees.
  • Monitor insurance and tax obligations.
  • Support capital and TI expense tracking.

Budgeting & Support:

  • Assist with annual property budgets.
  • Track loan balances and debt obligations.
  • Support lender reporting requests.
  • Assist ownership with financial visibility across the portfolio.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • 5+ years of accounting experience in real estate or property management.
  • Understanding of:
    • CAM structures.
    • NNN leases.
    • Multi-entity accounting.
  • Experience managing financials across multiple properties.

Preferred:

  • Commercial property accounting experience.
  • Familiarity with redevelopment or capital projects.
Technical

Skills:
  • Property accounting software (Yardi).
  • Quick Books.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Payroll systems experience.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Highly organized.

  • Comfortable working in a growth environment.
  • Able to operate independently.
  • Understands commercial real estate financials.
Scope of Role:

This role oversees accounting operations for a portfolio of approximately 25 commercial properties and will play a key role in supporting the continued growth of the management platform.
