Epitec is seeking an experienced Field Operations Technician for an opportunity with our client in the Agriculture industry. As a Field Operations Technician, the candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting next‑generation precision technology. This role puts you in the field operating advanced drone systems, collecting critical data, and working hands‑on with new hardware and software that helps shape the future of agriculture.
- This is an ongoing W2 contract in Springfield, MO
- This position offers $23/hour and requires traveling with a personal vehicle and occasional overnight stay (Mileage reimbursement included in offer)
- Operate Matrice series drones with Sentera sensors to collect high‑quality imagery for agricultural fields and research trials
- Plan, coordinate, and execute field‑based drone flight operations at customer and research locations
- Perform equipment setup, assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs for drones and sensor payloads
- Support field operations and product engineering teams by executing field data collection, pilot projects, and system testing
- Troubleshoot technical issues in the field, providing fault isolation and timely resolution to minimize downtime
- Follow product specifications to execute test procedures and contribute to system performance validation
- Collaborate with technical development teams to test new hardware and software and provide actionable feedback
- Manage flight schedules, communicate project conflicts, and propose alternate solutions when needed
- Assist with data management and delivery to support customer and internal projects
- Ensure all activities comply with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (FAA Part 107)
- Participate in team meetings and occasional client calls; proactively communicate field updates and findings
- FAA Part 107 Certified Small Unmanned Aircraft Pilot (required)
- Commercial drone flight experience in field environments
- Associate degree or equivalent experience in a technical, engineering, or precision agriculture‑related field
- 0–3 years of experience in field operations, technical support, engineering operations, or digital/precision agriculture
- Strong technical troubleshooting and hardware management skills
- Experience operating, maintaining, and repairing UAS platforms and sensor payloads
- Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision while collaborating with cross‑functional teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including customer‑facing interactions
- Comfortable working outdoors for extended periods and traveling up to 50% (overnight as needed)
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to rural field locations
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and work in outdoor environments
