Substation Laborer

We are seeking a skilled Substation Laborer to support the construction of electrical substations and related utility infrastructure. This role focuses heavily on civil, concrete, and foundation work-including footings, piers, excavation, rebar, and concrete placement-within a safety-critical utility environment. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in heavy civil, concrete, or foundational construction, even if they have not previously worked in a substation setting.


Responsibilities

• Assist in the construction of substation foundations, including concrete footings and piers
• Support concrete pours, including finishing and curing
• Perform excavation and site preparation using hand tools and equipment
• Assist with general construction tasks, including loading and unloading materials, digging trenches, and operating hand and power tools
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Collaborate with site supervisors and other construction staff to ensure project success
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement in construction practices
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Hands-on experience in foundation work, concrete, excavation, or heavy civil construction (substation experience not required)
• Knowledge of rebar placement, formwork, and anchor bolts
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and working in all weather conditions
• Basic math and measurement skills
• Ability to follow directions and work independently or as part of a team
• Experience in digging ditches and holes for grounding and foundations in energized substations
• Experience in wall forms and concrete pouring is a plus
• Must be able to travel, 75% travel time.
