Overview

The City of Springfield’s Building Development Services Department is hiring an Administrative Assistant to join a collaborative, customer-focused team. This role supports permitting and inspection services through scheduling, record management, and front-line assistance to the public. We’re looking for an organized, detail-oriented professional who enjoys variety, teamwork, and making a meaningful impact in the community.

What This Position Will Do
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the Building Development Services team.
  • Serve as a front-line contact for customers by phone, email, and in-person.
  • Schedule inspections and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and departmental documents.

Qualifications And Requirements

Experience, Education, and Training

  • Requires at least two years of experience in general office work
  • OR 2 years of related college or vocational education from an accredited college/university

Preferred

  • Experience with an emphasis on contact with the public

Licensing/Certification

  • Assignment to some departments requires incumbent to possess a valid driver’s license and, in some cases, provide own vehicle for on-the-job transportation purposes
