Overview
Follow My Steps Foundation is seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Part‑Time Driver to support transportation needs for youth programs, events, and community activities across Western Massachusetts. The ideal candidate will have experience operating passenger vans or school buses, a clean driving record, and a strong commitment to youth safety and engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Safely transport youth participants (Explorers), staff, and equipment to and from scheduled programs, field trips, and events.
- Ensure punctual pick‑up and drop‑off based on daily and weekend schedules.
- Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of the vehicle and report any maintenance needs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and youth‑friendly vehicle environment.
- Ensure all passengers follow safety protocols, including seatbelt usage.
- Communicate effectively with program staff and families about timing and logistics.
- Assist with light lifting of supplies, event setup, or breakdown when needed.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, attendance, and any incidents.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Valid Massachusetts driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a CORI and background check.
- Prior experience driving a 12–15 passenger van or school bus is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Springfield, Holyoke, Chicopee, and surrounding Western MA communities.
- Dependability, professionalism, and comfort working with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Availability on weekends (Friday–Sunday) and flexibility for occasional weekday afternoons.
- Current or former CDL license holder.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Bilingual or multilingual (preferred but not required).
- Experience working with youth programs, schools, camps, or nonprofits.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. for loading/unloading supplies or materials.
- Comfortable navigating tight urban streets and longer highway routes as needed.

AvailabilityAvailable to work Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and for weekday after‑school transportation between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
