Therapeutic Mentor/Therapeutic Training and Support, Springfield
CSO is looking for a Therapeutic Mentor/Therapeutic Training and Support Specialist for our Family Support Services team in Springfield. Join our team of dedicated professionals in our Family Support Services Program. Provide community-based direct care services to children and families. The main focus of these services is to alleviate the youth's mental health issues and strengthen the family structures and supports.
Therapeutic Mentoring offers structured, one-to-one, strength-based support services between a therapeutic mentor and a youth for the purpose of addressing daily living, social, and communication needs.
Therapeutic Mentoring services include supporting, coaching, and training the youth in age-appropriate behaviors, interpersonal communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution, and relating appropriately to other children and adolescents and adults in recreational and social activities pursuant to a behavioral health treatment plan.
These services help to ensure the youth's success in navigating various social contexts, learning new skills and making functional progress.
Responsibilities- Engage in one-to-one mentoring to support youth in daily living, communication, problem solving, and social interactions.
- Plan and facilitate skill acquisition and practice activities in the community, including social, recreational, athletic, artistic, educational, and vocational activities.
- Provide anticipatory guidance, role playing, behavioral rehearsal, and conflict resolution instruction.
- Supervise and monitor interactions, engage youth in reflection and discussion of strategies for peer interactions.
- Coordinate with clinicians and support staff to implement the therapeutic treatment plan.
- Document progress and maintain treatment plan consistency.
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a human services field plus two years of experience working with children.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Strong communication, empathy, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Experience with mental health, behavioral, or clinical settings preferred.
- Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged.
