Position: Laborer- Telecommunications / Utility Construction Assistant
Under direction from the Underground Construction Foreman the candidate will perform general labor duties in the field of telecom underground construction such as loading, digging, and placing underground cabling that would vary in size, shape, and weight.

What You Will Do:
  • Familiar with and understand the use of underground utility construction tools; use of jackhammers/chipping guns, compactors, shovels, and other hand tools
  • If qualified, drive to and from job sites throughout the area, as well as perform general construction labor at the job site
  • Travel required throughout the New England region with the Underground Crew, learning on the job
  • Conscientious regarding the safety of him/herself at times, as well as the safety of every other crew member or individual on the job site
  • Ability to make independent judgments and perform repetitive tasks
  • Regular contact with co-workers and customers; work as part of a team environment
  • Other duties as assigned
What You Will Need:
  • Active Class A CDL desired but not required
  • Hydraulics IC/2B Hoisting license a plus
  • Over 21 years of age and possess, a valid driver's license in good standing
  • Due to the nature of the job, travel is a requirement; hotels are paid for, and employees will be supplied with a per diem
  • Overtime is available every week
  • Previous underground utility or communications construction experience is a plus
  • Show up for work daily and on time, and ability to follow directions
  • Handle the physical demands of construction duties
  • Ability to make independent judgments and perform repetitive tasks
  • Regular contact with co-workers and customers
  • Within 90 days of start date, take and pass OSHA-10 Certification; company-supplied training
  • Must be able to take and pass, and continue to pass, a DOT Physical
  • Knowledge of materials handling equipment and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the trade.
  • Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance, including tire pressure, checking oil and water levels.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Work Environment
  • Repeated and frequent ability to lift, from floor to above head 40 lbs continuously
  • Ability to sit, stand, climb, kneel, bend, lift, crawl, squat, reach and utilize both hands and feet in an aerial and underground capacity. Environmental Conditions exposure is heat, cold, dust, wet, vibration and very loud noise
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

Expected compensation includes $20 to $30 an hour and benefits including medical, vision, and dental benefits, and 401k retirement plan available for eligible employees.
