Position: Diesel Technician Apprentice - 4 Day Work Week

Position Summary:

The Apprentice Diesel Tech/Mechanic is an entry‑level, competency‑based training program for aspiring diesel technicians. Trainees work closely with a mentor to learn truck mechanics, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, shop procedures, safety procedures, tool organization, and fleet shop operations.

Work Schedule:

$25.00 per hour. Four‑day work week—Wednesday 11:30 am‑5:30 pm and Thursday‑Saturday 5:30 am‑5:30 pm. Benefits:

Position Responsibilities:
  • Learn necessary knowledge of the trade under a mentor’s guidance.
  • Assist with inspection procedures, diagnostics, and repairs.
  • Help document work, report issues, and manage tool inventory.
  • Maintain a clean work area and organize tools.
  • Apply safety procedures and learn about rehefer units.
  • Understand shop procedures and the fleet shop’s role in “delivering the goods.”
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Currently enrolled in an automotive or diesel mechanics program, with knowledge of basic fundamentals of medium‑to‑heavy‑duty diesel equipment maintenance and basic computer literacy.
  • 0–6 months of experience required.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Enrollment in an ASE‑accredited diesel technician program.
  • 6 months to 1 year of experience.
