Position Description

Revitalize CDC is seeking a qualified candidate to support the development and implementation of community programs in focus neighborhoods. The Program Support will support two complementary initiatives aimed at improving environmental and public health outcomes in environmental justice neighborhoods of Chicopee and Holyoke. Through the DCR Greening the Gateway Cities Program (GGCP), the position assists with expanding the urban tree canopy to reduce energy use, mitigate heat islands, and enhance neighborhood livability.

Simultaneously, under the Mass Save Community Education Grant, the role promotes energy efficiency awareness, connects residents to weatherization and energy retrofit programs, and helps track outreach impacts. Furthermore, support for the annual #Green

NFit Neighborhood Rebuild consists of supporting the Neighborhood Sustainability team in outreach to the community, collecting eligibility documentation and coordinating the annual volunteer event.

This hands‑on role bridges fieldwork, outreach, and education, helping residents understand how trees and energy efficiency work together to create healthier, more sustainable homes and communities. This role is expected to continue over time, with responsibilities evolving as individual grants conclude and new programs begin.

Greening the Gateway Cities
  • Assist DCR crews and partners with tree planting, watering, mulching, and maintenance in target neighborhoods.
  • Conduct door‑to‑door outreach to encourage residents to request free trees and learn about their benefits.
  • Record tree data (species, location, survival rates) using mobile tools or GIS‑based systems.
  • Help coordinate volunteer and community planting events with city staff and nonprofit partners.
  • Support follow‑up visits to ensure healthy tree establishment and care.
Energy Education
  • Deliver community education and outreach around home energy efficiency, including Mass Save, weatherization, and energy retrofit opportunities.
  • Distribute educational materials at community events, workshops, and door‑to‑door campaigns.
  • Assist residents in navigating Mass Save assessments and connecting with approved contractors.
  • Track outreach metrics, participation, and outcomes for grant reporting.
  • Collaborate with energy partners such as Home Works Energy, Valley Opportunity Council, and local municipalities.
#Green

NFit Neighborhood Rebuild

  • Conduct outreach and engagement with residents in target neighborhoods through door‑to‑door canvassing, events, workshops, and tabling.
  • Assist residents with program information, referrals, and enrollment related to energy efficiency, home repairs, and healthy housing resources.
  • Coordinate logistics for community events, volunteer days, and neighborhood initiatives (e.g., Green

    NFit).
  • Support field activities including site visits, inspections, follow‑ups, and coordination with internal staff and external partners.
  • Assist with residential project coordination, including scheduling, documentation, and communication with…
