A leading health system in Massachusetts is seeking an experienced Director of Patient Access to oversee end-to-end Patient Access operations, including scheduling, registration, insurance verification, authorizations, financial counseling, and point-of-service collections. This role ensures high-quality performance across all access points while driving workflow optimization, standardization, staffing strategies, quality outcomes, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Do- Lead and mentor supervisors and managers on the Patient Access team, building a high‑performing organization
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to meet operational and patient care goals
- Oversee preparation of departmental budgets and participate in annual system‑wide budget planning
- Prepare annual statements of goals and objectives in collaboration with subordinates
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and private industry regulations, maintaining staff awareness of applicable laws and guidelines
- Analyze, interpret, and summarize revenue cycle data to monitor performance against KPIs and identify trends
- Identify issues, risks, barriers, and opportunities for improvement within Patient Access operations
- Develop training programs and professional development initiatives for staff
- Lead multi‑workstream performance improvement projects, delegating work effectively and ensuring measurable results
- Communicate effectively with internal and client leadership, escalating risks and influencing stakeholders as needed
- 6–8+ years of healthcare operations experience
- 2–3 years of leadership experience within Patient Access
- Direct supervisory experience managing teams and operational workflows
- Must be local to, or willing to relocate to, the greater Springfield, MA area
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex data and implement measurable performance improvements
- Experience with major Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms
- Ability to operate effectively in complex environments, including managed services models
- Hands‑on, visible leadership style with strong on‑site presence
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to influence senior leadership and stakeholders
- Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills to manage multiple concurrent initiatives
- EMR:
Cerner - Reporting tools including Excel and other healthcare financial systems
- Salary range: $125,000 – $157,000
- Potential sign‑on bonus to support relocation expenses
