** Program Overview
** As a Medical Assistant Trainee, you will:
* Complete Medical Assistant coursework through
** Holyoke Community College
*** Participate in a hands-on
** externship at a Baystate Medical Practice
*** Prepare for and obtain your
** Medical Assistant registration/certification
*** Transition into a
** Medical Assistant I
** role within Baystate Health upon program completion

Throughout the program, you are a

** What You’ll Do as a Medical Assistant
** Medical Assistants play a vital role in patient care, including:
* Taking vital signs and patient histories
* Performing clinical procedures and supporting providers
* Managing clinical documentation and orders
* Assisting with patient discharge and education

You’ll work in a supportive, team-based environment focused on delivering exceptional patient care.
** Program Expectations & Schedule**
* ** Education Phase:
** 32 hours/week for 17 weeks dedicated to coursework
* ** Externship:
** 40 hours/week for 4 weeks at a Baystate Health facility
* ** Post-Externship:
** 32 hours/week for 2 weeks, including RMA exam preparation
* ** Ongoing Role:
** Full-time Medical Assistant position after certification
