Patient Care Technician to join our Oncology team in Springfield, MA.
LOCATION:
Baystate Medical Center- 759 Chestnut St., Springfield, MA
SCHEDULE:
- Part-Time, 24 hours a week
- 7am-7:30om
- Rotating Holidays and Weekends
Oncology Unit
- The Oncology is a full-service 23 bed unit providing a wide array of inpatient therapies and comfort measures.
- The unit provides chemotherapy treatment, end of life care, and houses general medical/surgical patients and specialty oncology patients.
- This unit features a solid team with longevity on staff.
Responsibilities:
Baystate Health, Patient Care Technicians (PCT) play a hands-on role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care alongside our nursing team. Under the supervision of an RN, you'll assist with direct patient care, including hygiene, mobility, and vital sign monitoring.
PCTs perform a range of clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, specimen collection, and Point of Care testing. This role also includes assisting with procedures, patient transport, equipment management, and supporting emergency response protocols.
Strong communication, teamwork, and a commitment to patient safety are essential.
QualificationsThis position is part of a career ladder and hiring level determined by Recruitment.
- Level I: PCT training or CNA training, preferred
- Level II: High School diploma or GED; at least one year of patient care experience (can vary by setting); BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association, required
- Level III: High School diploma or GED; three or more years of patient care experience (or at least one year as Level II PCT at Baystate Health); BLS Certification, required
- Level IV: High School Diploma or GED; 4+ years of acute or specialty care experience or at least one year as Level III PCT at Baystate Health; BLS Certification, required
