Baystate Health, the largest healthcare organization in western Massachusetts and home to Baystate Medical Center (BMC), the areas only level 1 trauma center in Western Mass,is looking for a Regional Director of Sterile Processing to lead our experience Sterile Processing team in Springfield, MA.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Sterile Processing strategically oversees and elevates the performance of Baystate Health’s Sterile Processing operations across all regions. In this high-impact role, you’ll ensure 24/7 excellence in sterile processing, lead a multidisciplinary team, manage budgets, drive quality improvement initiatives, and maintain strict regulatory compliance—all while fostering a culture of safety, learning, and collaboration.
Operational LeadershipEnsure the delivery of high-quality sterile products through efficient processes and standardized workflows.
Oversee staffing models, scheduling, and resource allocation in alignment with operational needs.
Build and sustain a highly engaged team culture aligned with Baystate Health’s mission and core values.
Lead by example, mentor staff, and support professional development in partnership with the unit educator.
Promote a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to decision-making and problem-solving.
Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, DPH, AAMI, CDC, and all regulatory standards.
Collaborate with infection control, patient safety, and other hospital experts to drive a culture of safety.
Champion process improvements using Lean/Six Sigma principles.
Drive continuous quality and performance improvement initiatives in collaboration with hospital and system leaders.
Develop and manage operating and capital budgets.
Ensure fiscal responsibility through proactive planning, efficient resource use, and accountability.
Serve as a key liaison across perioperative departments, clinical teams, and hospital committees.
Maintain strong partnerships with OR Service Leads, surgeons, and ancillary departments.
Bachelors degree, required
Certified Sterile Processing Tech, required
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, preferred
3 years experience in service line management, product, vendor/supply management.
Knowledge and experience with sterilization processes, high level disinfection operating room procedures, flexible endoscopy and process improvement tools/applications.
