Note: The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate s relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range.

Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.

Salary Range: Minimum – Midpoint – Maximum

Range: $20.38 – $23.43 – $27.53

Summary

Under the direction of the EKG Medical Director, the incumbent is expected to adhere to system and department compliance policies and any applicable laws and regulations. Prepares patients for testing and performs the test. This includes knowledge and support functions for SMS, CIS, Muse and Mars software systems. Applies holter monitor and instructs patient in use. Scans, documents pertinent information with accuracy and reports life-threatening dysrhythmias to physicians.

Works well as part of a team or independently and maintains a positive, professional, compassionate attitude towards patients and fellow healthcare providers.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide age-appropriate care to patients. Demonstrates knowledge of developmental stages for the following age groups and applies developmental theories and concepts when planning and implementing care for patients. Age groups:
    Neonate, Infant & Toddler, Children, Adolescent, Adult.
  • Maintain equipment in a clean and proper working order. Clean all equipment and patient care areas daily according to procedure. Carry out minor adjustments to equipment as necessary and log failures; notify coordinator/supervisor of serious malfunctions immediately.
  • Communicate supply needs to coordinator/supervisor. Determine the need for replacement supplies before depletion. Evaluate inventory to ensure adequate supplies and review expiration dates. Store supplies in appropriate locations as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Consistently perform all EKG procedures independently and accurately, including specifications provided by the clinical director of the EKG department. Acquire and process acquisition data to provide the interpreting physician with a high-quality diagnostic study. Document data accurately into the computer information systems (e.g., SMS, CIS, Muse systems).
  • Apply holter monitors according to procedure and verify initial holter signal. Instruct patients on the use of the holter monitor and explain the importance of their journal. Remove holter monitor, prepare and clean according to established procedures. Process holter monitor data, upload and verify data transfer to Mars software for scanning according to department procedure.
  • When scanning holters, document pertinent electrocardiogram information with 90-95% accuracy according to procedure as observed by random monthly review of computer screens. Report potentially life-threatening electrocardiogram dysrhythmias listing in procedure to physicians with fewer than 1-2 errors/incidents per month.
  • Function as a preceptor/mentor for students, fellows, peers, and PCTs. Demonstrate enthusiasm, patience and provide honest, constructive feedback. Actively seek and be receptive to feedback from the healthcare team to improve quality and performance.
  • Minimum Requirements

    High School diploma or equivalent

    Basic Life Support – American Heart Association

    Required Work Experience

    3 years of EKG experience

    1 year of holter experience

    Skills and Competencies

    Must be able to work independently

    Education

    GED or HiSET (Required)
