The compensation range(s) in the table below represent the base salaries for all positions at a given grade across the health system. Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate's relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range.

Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full time commitment for exempt employees.

Minimum – Midpoint – Maximum

$16.68 – $19.17 – $22.36

Daily activities are coordinated by the Registered Nurse (RN). The PCT will perform a variety of technical tasks and bedside functions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to Direct Patient care; hygiene, skin care, mobility, and monitoring. The PCT is expected to manage equipment and perform or assist in all procedures on the unit. The incumbent is expected to perform other similar and related duties as assigned.

• Provides age-appropriate care to patients. Demonstrates the knowledge of developmental stages for the following age groups and applies developmental theories and concepts when implementing care for patients.
• Monitors basic physiological parameters. Takes and records routine vital signs within the specified timeframe. Obtains and documents weights/heights, abdominal girths, and head circumference (Pediatric Service) as per physician/nurse order 100% of the time. Consistently reports any significant deviations.
• Administers treatments and procedures per Baystate Health System policy/procedure. Changes dressings within one hour of the specified timeframe. Provides post-mortem care as directed by RN. Performs all procedures outlined in the nursing procedure manual and assists physicians with exams.
• Assists patients with the elimination of body wastes. Makes available bedpan, urinal, and emesis basin immediately after request. Accurately labels and sends specimens within 30 minutes. Records intake and output and administers enemas or Harris Drips as ordered.
• Performs Point of Care (POC) testing, if applicable.
• Assists in the delivery of ancillary services as directed. Monitors patient condition during treatment and notifies appropriate personnel of unexpected occurrences.
• Communicates effectively with the team and patients. Interacts in a respectful manner and conveys information related to patient care. Recognizes culturally based patient and family needs.
• Is knowledgeable of and initiates emergency procedures. Responds effectively in emergencies and maintains patient safety.
• Functions as a member of the team. Assists team members with clinical and non-clinical activities. Provides feedback related to team processes.
• Completes and maintains the clinical recognition program for the career ladder level.
• Demonstrates competency for one-to-one observation of patients based on department and unit-specific needs.
• Demonstrates competency in performing EKG based on department and unit-specific needs.

• PCT training or CNA training preferred

• Proficient in reading and writing in English
• Able to maintain professional composure in medium to high-stress situations
• Effective communication skills
