Patient Care Technician, Full Time, 36 Hour, Nights R37052 at Baystate Health.

• Provides age-appropriate care to patients and demonstrates knowledge of developmental stages for relevant age groups.
• Monitors basic physiological parameters and takes/records vital signs within defined time frames; documents weights/heights and other measurements as appropriate.
• Administers treatments and procedures per policy; changes dressings within established time frames; provides post-mortem care as directed.
• Performs procedures per nursing procedure manual; assists physicians with exams and simple procedures; verifies patient identity before procedures.
• Assists with elimination needs, provides bedpans/urinals/emesis basins as requested, and manages specimen labeling and submission as required.
• Performs Point of Care testing and assists with delivery of ancillary services; monitors patient condition during treatment and Notifies appropriate personnel of unexpected events.
• Maintains clear communication with team and patients, supports emergency procedures, and ensures patient safety at all times.
• Works as a team member, assists with clinical and non-clinical activities, and demonstrates competency for unit-specific responsibilities.

• This position is part of a career ladder with level-based hiring.
• Level I: PCT/CNA training preferred.
• Level II:
  At least one year of patient care experience.
• Level III:
  High School diploma or GED; three+ years of patient care experience or one year as Level II PCT at Baystate Health; CNA preferred.
• Level IV:
  High School Diploma or GED; four+ years of acute or specialty care experience or one year as Level III PCT; CNA preferred.
• Skills:
  
  Proficient in reading/writing English; maintain professional composure in medium/high-stress situations; effective communication skills.
• Certifications:
  
  Basic Life Support (American Heart Association);
  Certified Nurse Aide (as applicable).

• Shift: Third;

  36 per week
