Part time, 32 hours per week on the 3rd shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM). Four 8-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends and holidays (Shift Differential Offered).

Track, prioritize and assign beds. Communicate with BMD and BM for admissions, discharges and transfers (ADTs). Coordinate unit/department ADTs. Check BMD entries and advise the Charge Nurse of changes. Check CIS for discharge orders and follow up with MD, CM RN to assure discharge documents are complete. Enter discharges in OA Gold and pending discharges in BMD. Round three times daily with RNs and CM regarding discharges, discharge times and special instructions;
determine appropriateness for Discharge Lounge. Notify CM if ambulance times change. Monitor BMD for observation patients with the CM to determine discharge needs or status changes. Track new admissions from the ED. Retrieve SBAR data from the ED and communicate to nursing staff. Ensure fax reception within 30 minutes. Arrange patient transport from the ED if needed. Maintain BMD beeper and assign coverage during breaks and meals to ensure continuous ADT flow.
Complete project work as assigned/needed such as Payroll, committee participation, developing unit time schedules, etc.
Provide report/handoff to next shift including pending discharges, admissions in process, empty beds, beds being cleaned, and closed beds with reasons. Coordinate with other departments for priority tests for patients identified for next day discharge. Answer telephones and relay messages promptly and accurately. Respond to routine inquiries or refer to appropriate person. Assist staff as requested and communicate identified problems promptly.
Place calls to MDs and ancillary departments to facilitate patient care and throughput. Coordinate with NEOPO and related paperwork with RN as appropriate. Screen calls for the clinical team and facilitate information transfer.
Post break and lunch coverage to facilitate patient information access and communication.
Maintain patient charts in proper sequence, label pages, prepare records for transfer/discharge, obtain signatures for Medicare forms, organize charts for Medical Records, fax/copy records as needed, send discharge records to HIM, update discharge/admission logs, ensure complete information is sent with transfers. Prepare patient charge tickets for data entry and log unit activities. Enter data into PCM Auditor as directed. Replenish and restock unit audit tools.
Post and file MD schedules for clinical team inquiries. Prepare staffing assignments for the next shift in coordination with the charge nurse. Place calls to cover unplanned staffing vacancies and communicate staffing needs to Clinical Supervisor. Retrieve mail, blood products, medications, and supplies as needed.
Maintain and charge supplies, initiate requisitions, store supplies within 24 hours of receipt, and record charges/credits for patient supplies. Coordinate paper supplies with Print Shop/Distribution to maintain unit par levels.
Initiate emergency procedures as needed, verbalize location of emergency equipment, and mobilize emergency support personnel as required.
HS Diploma/GED
1-2 years' experience in customer service (healthcare setting preferred)
Ability to multitask
Computer literate
Education: GED or HiSET (Required)
CertificationsCertifications: Basic Life Support – American Heart Association
