Overview
Be among the first 25 applicants. This is a Full-Time, Third shift Patient Care Technician (PCT) role based in Springfield, MA. CPR-American Heart Association BLS required. A resume is required to fully determine experience.
Responsibilities- Provide age-appropriate care to patients and monitor basic physiological parameters.
- Take and document routine vital signs; record weights/heights and other measurements as applicable; report significant deviations immediately.
- Administer treatments and procedures per policy; change dressings within the established timeframe; provide post-mortem care as directed.
- Perform procedures in accordance with nursing procedure manuals; assist physicians with exams and simple procedures; verify patient identity before procedures.
- Assist with elimination needs and provide bedpan/urinal/emesis basin as requested.
- Label and send specimens promptly; monitor intake/output; administer enemas or Harris Drips as ordered.
- Perform Point of Care (POC) testing; assist with ancillary services and implement treatment plans for individual patients; monitor patient condition and notify RN of any changes.
- Communicate effectively with team and patients; respond to emergencies; maintain patient safety at all times.
- Work as a team member, support non-clinical activities, and contribute to team processes.
- Maintain competency through clinical recognition programs and one-to-one patient observation as required by department/unit needs.
This position is part of a career ladder and hiring level determined by Recruitment.
- Level I: Preferred: PCT or CNA training
- Level II: Required:
At least one year of patient care experience (various care settings acceptable) - Level III: High School diploma or GED;
Required:
Three+ years of patient care experience or at least one year as a Level II PCT at Baystate Health; CNA preferred - Level IV: High School Diploma or GED;
Required:
4+ years of acute or specialty care experience or at least one year as a Level III PCT at Baystate Health; CNA preferred

Competencies:
Proficient in reading and writing in English; maintain professional composure in medium to high-stress situations; effective communication skills.

- Hours:
36 per week;
Nights 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.; includes every other weekend and holiday - Education:
GED or HiSET - Certifications:
Basic Life Support – American Heart Association;
Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred
