Location and ScheduleLocation: BMC Main Campus, Children’s Hospital, 759 Chestnut Street, Springfield, Massachusetts
Schedule: Full Time, Days (40 hours per week)
CompensationHourly base salary range: $59,758 – $68,681 – $81,224 based on grade and experience.

Under the general supervision of department leadership, the Registered Dietitian (RD) practices within the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics’ scope of practice and MA statutes. The RD provides comprehensive nutrition care, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and participates in committees and quality improvement initiatives.
Job Responsibilities- Demonstrate organizational skills ensuring safe delivery of care for assigned patients/families.
- Conduct age‑appropriate clinical assessments, identify nutrition diagnoses, and develop individualized care plans.
- Apply critical thinking and current clinical evidence to identify nutrition problems and develop patient/family‑centered care plans.
- Enter orders in the EMR, including independent order writing privileges for nutrition care.
- Manage parenteral and tube feeding therapy in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
- Educate patients/families on therapeutic diets using appropriate resources and teaching methods.
- Document assessments, interventions, and evaluation in accordance with policy.
- Contribute to practice guideline development and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
- Develop nutrition‑support discharge plans in collaboration with the MD/interdisciplinary team, case management, and community resources.
- Address patient experience concerns swiftly and objectively, escalating to leadership as needed.
- Serve as a resource, providing nutrition education to physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and the community.
- Maintain annual competencies and mandatory education requirements, precept dietetic interns, and demonstrate professional communication skills.
- Registered Dietitian (Commission on Dietetic Registration) – required
- Licensed Dietitian – Commonwealth of MA – required
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition or related subject – required (Master’s preferred; required for all new RDs registered 2024 and after)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a pertinent area of clinical nutrition, or proven competency after successful onboarding to meet level 2 practice.
- Experience in pediatrics – required.
