In this role, you’ll oversee core accounting functions, ensure compliance with funding and regulatory requirements, and lead a team through accurate, timely financial operations. You’ll serve as both a hands‑on financial expert and a trusted partner to departments across the organization.

Work style: Hybrid remote—onsite three days per week
Key Responsibilities- Oversee and optimize all accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and full compliance with accounting standards, tax codes, and funding requirements
- Proactively identify and implement process improvements
- Partner closely with Property & Asset Management as a financial advisor and collaborator
- Analyze financial data and deliver clear, comprehensive financial reporting to senior leadership
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year‑end closings; support audit preparation and execution
- Manage general ledger activities including journal entries, AR, and reconciliations
- Review disbursements and cash receipts to ensure correct allocations
- Oversee cash flow and banking activity across multiple departments
- Contribute to development and application of cost allocation procedures
- Build strong relationships with internal teams, funders, and external stakeholders
- Surface financial or compliance concerns promptly to leadership
- Stay current on relevant accounting standards and regulations
- Onboard new team members and refine training programs as needed
- Provide continuous performance feedback and developmental coaching
- Lead hiring efforts for new or replacement staff
- Support supervisors to ensure strong team communication, performance management, and effective workflow oversight
- Oversee a team that may include managers, specialists, accountants, clerks, support staff, and temporary workers
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (with an Accounting concentration)
- 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience (nonprofit preferred)
- 1 year of mid‑level supervisory or lead experience of up to 3 employees — Sr. Accountants also urged to apply.
- Experience in property management or real estate development accounting (highly valued)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and Adobe; comfort with learning new systems
- Familiarity with nonprofit regulations and reporting requirements
- Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and adaptability
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with staff at all levels, as well as auditors, financial institutions, investors, and board members
