Controller, Finance & Banking, Accounting Manager

We are a mission-driven nonprofit seeking an experienced Controller to oversee financial operations, ensure strong internal controls, and support the organization’s long-term financial sustainability.

The Controller is responsible for managing the organization’s accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance. This role plays a key leadership function in maintaining fiscal integrity and supporting programmatic growth.

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end close

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

• Manage the annual budget process and provide variance analysis

• Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and grant requirements

• Lead annual audit process and serve as primary liaison with external auditors

• Develop and maintain internal controls and financial policies

• Supervise and mentor accounting staff

• Support leadership with financial analysis and strategic decision-making

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• 5+ years of accounting experience, including nonprofit or fund accounting

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting

• Experience with audits, grants, and restricted funds

• Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
