General FunctionThe Instrumental Music Educator will be primarily responsible for providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for facilitating learning within a classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; supervising students; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.
Descriptionof Primary Duties
- Plan and deliver engaging band instruction aligned with the school’s curriculum and performance goals.
- Direct and rehearse band ensembles.
- Prepare students for concerts, competitions, and school performances.
- Select appropriate repertoire and instructional materials.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback on musical growth and skill development.
- Maintain a positive, structured rehearsal environment that promotes discipline and teamwork.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration regarding expectations and events.
- Coordinate performance logistics (music, equipment, setup, schedules).
- Maintain inventory and care of school-owned instruments and music resources.
- Support the overall mission and culture of the school through the band program.
- Instrumental Music Missouri Teaching Certificate K-12, required or commensurate experience in the field of vocal/choir directing
- Bachelor’s degree in job-related area, required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Prior classroom experience with secondary level students grades 6-12 required.
Additional qualifications may include advanced performance experience, leadership roles, or specialized training in music technology.
