Teachers Assistant and Substitute Teacher

Job Description

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

• Knowledge of how to prepare a curriculum-based lesson in alignment with the Massachusetts Curriculum frameworks for every regularly scheduled class
• Knowledge of how to interact and interestingly engage ALL students with the content of the curriculum.
• Knowledge of how to monitor and record the interests of each student
• Knowledge of how to plan, develop, and implement revised curriculum according to the culture and interests of the students
• Knowledge of how to develop work stations according to the current interests of the child; however all stations must be ethically and educationally based
• Knowledge of how to ensure activities meet with and integrate with quality management, health and safety standards, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care
• Knowledge of how to maintain the integrity of the program’s mission, work towards fulfilling the mission and respectfully share the mission with the program’s students and the community at large
• Knowledge of how to draft and submit progress reports of the students
• Knowledge of how to prepare report cards for students (as needed)
• Knowledge of how to administer tests to students
• Attend all mandatory YES staff meetings the first Monday of every month
• Contribute to the evaluation and development of YES cooperatively with the administration
• Maintain awareness and knowledge of curriculum trends and provide suitable interpretation to directors before introducing the information
• Make sure students are safe at all times
• Notify administration about any and all injuries that happen to youth while at YES.
• Complete incident report form with a detail account of the incident
• To understand that your direct supervisor is the teacher in charge

• Required qualifications:
  
  High School diploma/ GED
• Preferred qualifications:
  
  Bachelor’s and at least 2 years of experience
